To date, the Talanoa Community Trust has been successful in promoting sporting activities and various sports will be available at the proposed youth centre. To date, Takako Lui (Trustee)  has arranged and received sponsorship for an underprivileged youth from a poor village, who showed promise as a rugby player, to attend a sporting academy in Japan. This type of activity, such as sporting scholarships, will be further explored  by the Talanoa Community Trust and an area to engage in sports will be an integral part of the proposed community youth centre.
